Portugal is set to launch the second intake of its “Integrar para o Turismo” program in April, designed to train and integrate migrants and international protection beneficiaries into the tourism sector. A key upgrade is the extension of internships from one to three months, aimed at improving long-term employment outcomes. The program also introduces language training and financial literacy modules to support deeper social and economic integration. Participants will complete three months of classroom training in public hospitality schools, followed by three months of practical work experience in tourism companies. Each participant receives approximately €3,759 in support, with a total budget of €5 million. In 2025, the program expanded from 1,000 to 1,299 places, with 655 completing it; nearly 85% secured jobs, although fewer than half remained in tourism.
