The Portuguese Social Democratic Party (PSD) has proposed a law restricting children’s access to social networks and digital platforms until the age of 16. Teenagers aged 13–16 would be able to use these services only with parental consent, through age verification systems such as Chave Móvel Digital. The initiative aims to strengthen the protection of children in the digital environment and is supported by the Socialist Party (PS). Oversight would be entrusted to communications and data protection regulators, with potential fines of up to €2 million or 2% of annual turnover. Portugal is following European practices, while the European Commission is developing common age verification mechanisms. Material taken from https://t.me/s/pronews_portugal
