The massive Lisbon Festival 2026 will run from May 29 to June 26, bringing together more than 40 events, most of them free and held outdoors. We went through the program and picked out the highlights.

🎤 Where to go for music

Santos (May 29 – July 19) is the festival’s main music hub. Live concerts every day from 5 p.m., the city’s longest-running lineup, plus World Cup matches screened on giant outdoor screens. Free entry.

Arraial da Misericórdia (May 30 – June 29) hosts twelve concerts at the São Pedro de Alcântara viewpoint, with Lisbon’s skyline as the backdrop. Free.

Arraial NiT (May 30 – June 28) is arguably the most carefully curated arraial of the summer. Organized by Portuguese lifestyle outlet NiT together with the team behind the legendary Revenge of the 90s parties. Music runs daily from 7 p.m. to midnight, alongside immersive shows, karaoke and giveaways. The festival opens on May 30 with a concert by Toy, one of the most beloved voices in Portuguese pop. The climax comes on the night of June 12 with “Santos Noventeiros” — the Revenge of the 90s format reimagined with a Portuguese folk twist, continuing until 4 a.m. Entry is always free.

Grande Arraial de Benfica (June 18–21) brings together four days and three major acts. Quim Barreiros is the living legend of pimba music and the undisputed king of the arraial, loved equally by grandparents and grandchildren. D.A.M.A. is a young trio blending pop with Portuguese folk influences and hugely popular with younger audiences. Delfins, an iconic 1980s rock band, deliver pure Portuguese nostalgia for today’s 40+ generation. Free.

👨‍👩‍👧 Where to go with children

Arraial de Belém (May 29 – June 14) is designed specifically for families, with a children’s area, rides, trampolines and activities throughout the day. On weekends it opens from 3 p.m. — perfect timing before kids’ bedtime.

Arraial dos Navegantes (June 6–8, Parque das Nações) includes an “Arraialito” zone where volunteers organize activities specially for children. The modern neighborhood and wide waterfront promenades also make it stroller-friendly.

💃 Where to walk, dance and celebrate

Arraial de São Miguel (throughout June, Alfama) is Lisbon’s most charismatic festival, unfolding directly in the narrow streets of the historic district. Live music on weekends creates an atmosphere that naturally pulls everyone into dancing.

Santos at Doca da Marinha (June 4–21, Thursday to Sunday) takes place by the Tagus River with waterfront views. Capacity is limited, so arriving early is recommended.

Arraial da Academia de Santo Amaro (June 24–29) attracts more than 15,000 people annually, featuring a large square, food trucks and dancing with views of the 25 de Abril Bridge. It serves as the grand finale of Lisbon’s month-long festivities.

🐟 Where to eat

Vila Berta (May 31 – June 12, Graça) is the place people visit specifically for the food and atmosphere. Neighbors cook and serve everything themselves: sardines, sweets and homemade snacks. Long communal tables stretch through the narrow street, creating the feeling of being invited to a stranger’s wedding — in the best possible way. In 2023, it was named Lisbon’s best festival.

Arraial Santo António (May 26 – June 22) is one of the city’s most relaxed spots, but with all the essentials: grilled sardines, bifana sandwiches and homemade snacks.

Arraial da Misericórdia also offers sardines, bifanas and artisan products from local associations. Eating with panoramic views over Lisbon is part of the experience itself.
In general, excellent fresh food and grilled sardines will be available at nearly every event across the city, so whichever festival you choose, you will not leave hungry.

📅 The climax of it all comes on the night of June 12–13. The Marchas Populares parade takes over Avenida da Liberdade, sardines are grilled on every corner, and celebrations continue across Lisbon until dawn.
