If you enjoy old photographs and history without the dry textbook approach, you may want to check out the presentation of the book Portugal: da Ditadura à Democracia.
The book features more than 200 photographs by photojournalist Marques Valentim, capturing everything from revolutionary events to everyday life in Portugal during the 1970s and 1980s. It also includes images that have never been published before.
The book launch will take place on June 18 at 6:00 p.m. at the Fundação Mário Soares e Maria Barroso in Lisbon. Earlier that day, at 5:00 p.m., a free photography exhibition will open at the same venue.
It is a great opportunity to see how Portugal evolved from dictatorship to democracy through the lens of a photographer who witnessed the transformation firsthand.
