The Lisbon City Council, in partnership with the Portuguese Football Federation, will open the Lisboa Football Arena at Terreiro do Paço.
One or two tournament matches will be screened free of charge on a giant screen every day, including all Portugal national team games. Admission is free.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy a food court and an entertainment programme.
If you would rather watch football in a more traditional setting and experience what the national team means to Portuguese fans, these venues are worth considering:
The Couch Sports Bar — arguably Lisbon’s best-known sports bar. With a huge number of screens and football on virtually all the time, it is a popular choice for major matches. For high-profile games, arriving early is recommended.
Kick-Off Sports Bar — a two-storey venue with a large screen, geared specifically towards football supporters. Table reservations are recommended for important matches.
Avenida Sports Bar — known for its relaxed atmosphere and numerous TV screens. It broadcasts virtually every major football competition.
The George — an English-style pub with a strong football atmosphere, particularly during Premier League and European club matches. It is frequently recommended by Lisbon’s expatriate community.
Irish & Co — a convenient option for those in the Moscavide and Parque das Nações area. This large Irish pub regularly screens football matches.
