More than 500 foreign investors holding ARI residence permits, commonly known as “golden visas,” are preparing a class action lawsuit against the government following amendments to the citizenship law approved by António José Seguro. Many of those involved are U.S. citizens, although the group also includes investors from other countries. The investors have organized through WhatsApp and plan to formally establish an association to pursue legal action. Several law firms are representing the group while awaiting the final regulations. The dispute centers on the extension of the minimum residency period required for citizenship applications, which has increased from five to ten years. For EU and CPLP citizens, the waiting period has risen from five to seven years. Material taken from https://t.me/s/lepta
