AIMA has published detailed guidance for immigrants who are unable to access the Portal de Renovações to renew expired residence permits. The agency advises applicants to first check whether their issue falls under other categories, including changes to address, email, NIF, NISS or NNU, as separate forms are available for those requests.

According to the instructions, users should:
— visit contactenos.aima.gov.pt;
— select “Portal de Renovações” as both the topic and subcategory;
— enter an email address to access the form;
— provide personal details, including full name, date of birth, nationality, phone number, active email address and residence permit number;
— attach a copy of the residence permit, a screenshot clearly showing the error, and a brief explanation of the issue.
