Owners of agricultural and mixed-use land will no longer be able to sell property or access national and EU subsidies without clearly defined plot boundaries. Under a new law published in Diário da República, registration through the BUPi platform with precise coordinates is now mandatory. Without compliance, notarized transactions are невозможны, except in limited cases such as insolvency proceedings. The system, introduced in 2017 after major wildfires, aims to address unidentified land ownership, especially in northern regions.
